Health & Wellbeing Gift Guide

Updated: Mar 6, 2023

Whether you have a loved one who has an autoimmune illness, or you yourself manage an autoimmune condition - this Holiday Gift Guide 2022 is for you. It's filled with beautiful, delicious, and helpful gifts, perfect for individuals managing life with autoimmunity.

1) Nono Cocoa Superfood Choc Box

£

These superfood chocolates are absolutely beautiful, from the delicate design to the quality ingredients. Each chocolate has a unique flavour, which I've never tried before - one of my favourites is the Strawberry Cup - it tastes like real strawberries! These have been featured on my Christmas wish-list every year since I discovered them in 2018. Their chocolates are free from gluten, nuts, dairy and eggs, making them perfect for people with autoimmune conditions.

2) Sensate

£££

Sensate is a stress-relief device, which emits precisely engineered sound waves directly into the body, sending a powerful, stress-alleviating signal directly to your autonomic nervous system. In other words, it signals to the body that it is time to move into 'rest and digest' mode. This tool is helpful for individuals who experience chronic stress, HPA-axis dysregulation or chronic pain - and as such, makes a wonderful gift for people managing autoimmunity.

3) Living Well With Pain & Illness

£

This mindfulness book by Vidyamala Burch is a wonderful read for the person who is struggling to find peace and joy in their life with chronic illness. It is described as a practical guide to living with and managing chronic pain and illness through the principle of mindfulness. Vidyamala's story itself is truly inspiring, and the tools you can learn in this book yield benefits to every aspect of life, beyond your health.

4. Skincare Bundle

££

Eco by Sonya is my go-to non-toxic skincare brand for individuals who have autoimmune skin conditions, particularly those with psoriasis, as their products are so gentle. This skincare bundle would make the perfect gift for the health conscious beauty-lover who is ready to make the switch from regular high street brands to clean beauty.

5. Blue Light Blocking Glasses

££

These glasses are proven to block 100% of blue light and are designed for evening use to increase melatonin levels, lower stress levels, and improve sleep quality. Regulating the circadian rhythm and lowering stress levels are important factors in managing autoimmune conditions, and what I love about this particular brand is that they have a huge range of styles for you to choose from!

6. Air Purifying House Plant

££

The quality of the air we breathe is known to have a big impact on our health. Mould in particular plays an important role in many autoimmune diseases and chronic illnesses. You can buy home air purifying machines, but a more economical (and pretty) alternative is to buy certain varieties of house plants. Palms, peace lilies, and snake plants like this one from Bloom & Wild are all great choices, and would make a beautiful and practical gift!

7. Grounding Mat

£

Grounding refers to connecting electrically with the Earth. A growing body of research is finding numerous health benefits as a result of being grounded. Due to modern living, we no longer have a natural electrical connection to the Earth, unless walking barefoot. This grounding mouse mat enables you to be grounded as your hand rests on the mat while using the mouse, and would make a great gift for someone who works at a computer!

8. Alcohol-Free Spirit

£

Cutting out alcohol when you have an autoimmune disease is highly recommended, as it is known for promoting systemic inflammation and impairing immune function. Luckily, there is now an array of delicious alcohol-free tipples to choose from, and who doesn't love a bottle of something nice for Christmas? This Coastal Juniper non-alcoholic distilled spirit has the flavours of sea kelp, samphire and blood orange, and pairs wonderfully with citrus. It also happens to look beautiful, another reason it would make a beautiful gift.

9. Weighted Blanket

£££

Many individuals with autoimmune disease have a heightened stress response - when the body is in fight or flight, it can't do it's growth and repair processes that are so essential to improving health. Part of working on regulating the stress response is feeling safe; weighted blankets can help to provide comfort and security, easing stress and calming the nervous system. This one by Baloo is made from 100% cotton, and is free from chemicals and plastic.

10. Gratitude Journal

£

Gratitude has some truly astonishing benefits to our health and wellbeing; expressing gratitude is associated with improvements in sleep, mood and immunity. Gratitude has also been found to decrease depression, anxiety, difficulties with chronic pain and overall risk of disease. This Gratitude Journal by Mål Paper encourages you to start each morning by listing three things you feel grateful for, taking time to appreciate the full emotions linked to each one, and finish each day by reflecting on positive moments that occurred.

I hope this list has provided you with some helpful inspiration! Let me know if you gift anything from this list, I'd love to hear from you.

Wishing you a happy and healthy Holiday Season x
